INS students receive NRSA fellowships

Several INS students recently received NRSA Fellowships.  These competitive research awards enable promising predoctoral students with potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientists, to obtain mentored research training while conducting dissertation research.

Cherish Taylor (Mukhopadhyay Lab) received an NRSA from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for her proposal entitled "Mechanisms of Brain Manganese Homeostasis and Manganese-induced Parkinsonism".

Frank Yeh (Aldrich Lab) received an NRSA from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for his proposal entitled "To Clarify the Debates Surrounding BK Gating".

Sophie Sanchez (Pierce Lab) received an NRSA from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development for her proposal entitled "Systematic Analysis of 21st Chromosome Ortholog Overexpression in C. elegans".

Geoff Dilly (Messing Lab) received an NRSA from the National Institue on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism for his proposal entitled "Cell-type specific central amygdala neurotransmission in alcohol dependence".

Shun Kobayashi (Seidemann Lab) received an NRSA from the National Eye Institute for his proposal entitled "Causal testing of the role of a place code for global-scale visual features in primate V1 using patterned optogenetics".
