Dr. Robbe Goris receives funding from NEI

September 20, 2022

Congratulations to Dr. Robbe Goris on his RO1 from the National Eye Institute!

This award will provide more than 1.5 million over four years to support his research project "Uncertainty, inference, and introspection in the primate visual system".

Brief Summary:
Vision science seeks to understand how the visual system functions and aims to develop treatments for visual pathologies. The proposed studies to investigate the processing of visual uncertainty in cortex and its role in perception will provide rigorous steps towards those goals. The

INS graduate student, Dylan Kirsch, receives predoctoral fellowship from NIAAA

September 2, 2022

Congratulations to Dylan Kirsch, INS graduate student in the Lippard Lab, on her predoctoral fellowship award from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism!

This award provides two years of support for her research "Ventral Prefrontal Network Connectivity and Alcohol Sensitivity in Bipolar Disorder and Typically Developing Young Adults".

Brief Summary:
Alcohol use disorders affect up to 60% of individuals with bipolar disorder and are associated with more severe illness outcomes, yet we lack sufficient understanding of the

August 29, 2022

Congratulations to Drs. Laura Colgin and Darrin Brager on their RO1 from the National Institute of Mental Health!

This award will provide more than 3 million dollars over a four year period to support their their research proposal “Investigating mechanisms underlying impaired social and spatial cognition in rodent models of Fragile X syndrome”.

Brief Summary:
Fragile X syndrome (FX) is associated with deficits in social and spatial behaviors, yet the neural mechanisms responsible for these impairments remain poorly understood. Hippocampal areas

Samantha Santacruz receives NSF CAREER Award

May 2, 2022

Samantha Santacruz received a NSF CAREER Award for her proposal entitled "Scalable, Penetrating Multimodal Neural Interfaces for Adaptive Closed-Loop Neuromodulation".  This CAREER project will develop and leverage a neural interface technology to characterize neural circuits impacted by anxiety disorders. Ultimately the work will increase understanding of neural mechanisms underscoring anxiety-related behavior and potentially lead to new treatment options.

Dr. Franco Pestilli receives R01 from NIMH

September 1, 2021
Dr. Franco Pestilli received an R01 from the National Institute of Mental Health for his proposal entiteld "A community-driven development of the brain imaging data standard (BIDS) to describe macroscopic brain connections".   The project proposes to advance scientific discovery and understanding of the brain by developing methods (a standard) that will facilitate data sharing. Data sharing can effectively impact the understanding of health and disease by promoting data use from goals beyond those initially supporting the data collection process. The project will deliver a Read more about Dr. Franco Pestilli receives R01 from NIMH
